Meet Dr. Jay Cho

For Dr. Jay Cho, orthodontics is more than straightening teeth—it's about building confidence, creating lasting relationships, and giving back to the communities he is proud to serve.

A lifelong member of the New Hyde Park community, Dr. Cho attended Denton Avenue Elementary School, Herricks Middle School, and graduated from Herricks High School before pursuing his education in dentistry. Today, he is honored to care for the families and neighbors who helped shape him while also welcoming generations of patients from the Bayside community. Whether treating longtime residents, new families, or siblings of former patients, Dr. Cho loves getting to know each person who walks through the door and making every patient feel like part of the New Hyde Park Orthodontics family.

Dr. Cho earned his Bachelor of Arts in Biology from Colgate University before receiving his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine. During dental school, he served as President of the Orthodontic Society and received numerous academic honors, including induction into Omicron Kappa Upsilon, the national dental honor society, and the prestigious Matthew Cryer Honor Society, an honor reserved for the top ten students in each graduating class.

He continued his advanced education with a three-year residency in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics at Columbia University College of Dental Medicine, where he also served as President of his residency class and earned a Master of Science degree in Oral Biology.

In addition to caring for patients, Dr. Cho is passionate about teaching the next generation of dentists and orthodontists. He serves as a Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Pediatric Medicine at North Shore Long Island Jewish Medical Center and Long Island Jewish Medical Center and has taught orthodontic pre-clinic and dental laboratory skills at Columbia University. He also serves as Treasurer of the Columbia University Orthodontic Alumni Association and is a member of the Board of Directors for the Nassau County Dental Society.

Dr. Cho remains actively involved in organized dentistry through memberships in the American Association of Orthodontists, Northeastern Society of Orthodontists, American Dental Association, New York State Dental Association, Nassau County Dental Society, Long Island Seattle Study Club, and the Columbia University Orthodontic Alumni Society. His commitment to continuing education ensures that every patient benefits from the latest advances in orthodontic care and technology.

Outside the office, Dr. Cho enjoys spending time with his family and friends. He's an avid golfer, enjoys playing tennis, loves running, and is a devoted sports fan. You may even run into him at a local event, cheering from the sidelines, or supporting organizations that make New Hyde Park and Bayside such wonderful places to live and raise a family.

Whether you visit our New Hyde Park or Bayside office, you'll find the same commitment to exceptional care, personalized treatment, and a warm, welcoming experience. Dr. Cho believes every smile has a story, and he looks forward to helping you and your family create one you'll be proud to share.
